Program: Why Jewish Emigrants settled in Tucson in the Mid-1800’s
Bettina Lyons
Our presenter for this program is Bettina Lyons, Granddaughter of Albert Steinfeld and author of Zeckendorfs and Steinfelds, Merchant Princes of the American Southwest.
“Have you ever wondered why there were so many Jewish pioneers who made Tucson their home in the 1800’s?
“My Jewish ancestors emigrated from Germany to New York City beginning in 1844. They
made the long difficult journey to New Mexico and eventually to Tucson, Arizona Territory.”
This is a Pot Luck Dinner so bring a dish to share. Board Members provide dessert and coffee for all attendees. This event is free and open to the public. Bring your friends and introduce them to Arizona’s history.
